Safety Rules

Please help us keep the centre safe and enjoyable for everyone. Golf clubs and balls can cause serious injury. Follow all safety signs and staff instructions, and ask the golf shop if you are unsure what to do.

Driving range

• Only one person may swing a club in a bay at a time.
• Before every swing, including practice swings, check that nobody is within reach of your club.
• Anyone waiting or watching must remain behind the player and well outside the full swing area. Never stand beside a player who is swinging.
• Only swing and hit balls from the designated hitting area, aiming straight down the range.
• Never step onto the range or in front of the bays to collect balls or retrieve equipment. Ask staff for assistance.
• Do not swing clubs in walkways, behind the bays or near other customers.
• Stop immediately if anyone enters an unsafe position.
• Report damaged clubs, mats, dividers or ball-dispensing equipment to the golf shop.

Children and beginners

• Parents and carers must ensure children understand the safety rules and receive supervision appropriate to their age and ability.
• Children waiting for their turn must remain clear of all swinging clubs.
• Beginners should ask staff for guidance before using the facilities if they are unsure how to practise safely.
• During organised lessons, follow the coach’s instructions about where to stand and when to swing.

Golf course

• Before swinging, check that everyone nearby is safely clear.
• Do not hit until the players ahead and anyone else within range are safely out of reach.
• Shout “FORE!” immediately if your ball could hit someone.
• If you hear “FORE”, protect your head and face immediately.
• Give greenkeepers and other staff priority. Wait until they are safely clear before playing.
• Keep away from water hazards and take care on slopes, steps and wet ground.
• Spectators and dogs are not permitted on the course.
• Follow all course closures, barriers and staff directions.

Putting and chipping areas

• Check that other people are safely clear before making a stroke or practice swing.
• Use each area only for its intended purpose. Do not play full shots from the putting or chipping areas.
• Do not hit towards anyone or run across the greens.

Weather and general conduct

• Stop play and seek suitable shelter if there is thunder or lightning. Follow staff instructions.
• Wear footwear that provides suitable grip.
• Keep walkways and exits clear.
• Do not use the facilities if alcohol or drugs affect your ability to play safely.
• Anyone acting dangerously may be asked to stop using the facilities.

Accidents, hazards and emergencies

Report every accident, injury, near miss or unsafe condition to the golf shop promptly.

For a serious emergency, call 999 and alert staff.
